ERRANDS: An Online Scheduling System for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Negros Occidental, Philippines
Main Article Content
Abstract
Efficient schedule management is critical in professional environments to enhance productivity, ensure the timely completion of tasks, and minimize workplace stress by providing a structured framework for daily responsibilities. Traditional scheduling approaches, often plagued by inefficiencies and reliance on manual processes, struggle to address modern challenges, including overwhelming emails that complicate task tracking. This study presents the development of an online scheduling management system tailored for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Negros Occidental. The system's design and implementation follow the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology, which includes iterative phases: Planning, Prototyping, Testing, and Deployment. This approach ensures the system adapts dynamically to user needs and addresses complex scheduling requirements. The prototyping phase involves iterative refinement to create a user-centric solution and rigorous testing to ensure system reliability, functionality, and security. Once validated, the system will be deployed, streamlining scheduling processes, reducing reliance on email-based task coordination, and providing real-time notifications. These features significantly enhance operational efficiency, reduce administrative burdens, and improve workplace productivity. The study underscores the role of digital transformation in public sector management, offering an innovative solution that aligns with the goals of e-governance. By addressing limitations in traditional scheduling systems, this research contributes to advancing scheduling efficiency and fostering effective governance in the context of the DILG Negros Occidental.
